Once you’re comfortable with the pattern and your picking hand is doing what it should you can start to introduce a few chords. Only increase your speed once you’re completely comfortable. Play slowly to begin with, aiming for a steady tempo that keeps the spacing between notes equal. That will give you a good starting position. To get your hand into a good position, put your fingers and thumb on to the strings that they will be playing then just lift them off slightly. If you need it, here’s my guide to help you know which string is which. Your thumb will play the G, your index finger plays the E and your middle finger plays the A.
The tab above shows the sequence of G E A and just repeats it. To start with, we’re not going to use our fretting hand so just let it relax, I want you take all your focus away from that hand.
